From the very first day in this class I knew that it was going to be a challenge. The papers and projects, along with keeping an updated portfolio, seemed like a lot to manage with my other classes. Looking back on it now, I am proud of how well I managed my time throughout this class, and I feel like my writing has substantially improved throughout this class. The low point of this class, for me, would probably be the day we started making our blog page in class. There was so much that had to go into making this page and I couldn't even figure out how to work the website! That was the low point for me because I was still "getting in the groove" of the whole college thing and that sent my stress to another level. Although there were some stressful moments when it came to projects and papers, there was no better feeling than when you finished a big assignment a couple days early and didn't have to worry about it anymore. The feeling of completing my culture vignettes project, and knowing I was completely done, was most definitely the high point in the class for me. I struggled the most when I had a lot on my plate, but the only way to fix it was to cut myself off from the outside, lock myself up in my room, and work constantly until it was all done.
What I will carry on from this class will be the process of inquiry. Throughout the class I have learned that there is more to the inquiry process than I thought before. I have learned that inquiry has many parts and it takes a long developmental process to come up with an answer to your inquiry. Throughout my inquiry and other projects, I have seen the difference between paper and web text. I have never had experience with web text before this class but I think that I like it better. Doing a project on a webpage other than a paper, gives you more outlets to show your point. On a webpage, your options are open to videos, pictures, even links to other websites, all of which can help support your claims or show something that can only be explained using multimedia. With a paper, you are limited on what exactly you can include, and I feel like I've written enough papers in high school to satisfy me for a while. This class has improved my writing and inquiry process, showed me the multimedia part of writing, and mainly it has helped me develop my skills as a writer. It has prepared me for other writing intensive courses I will face in the future.
